Your special day should get the magic touch.

Your wedding day isn't just about hair and makeup. After 2+ years of pandemic living, one thing is clear, beauty isn't vanity. It's an emotional connection to how we feel. When you love how you look, you're a little lighter, a little happier. On such a special day, it's a feeling you'll remember and cherish for a lifetime. Not only is that feeling special, but the time spent with family and loved ones is also even more special. Let us take the stress out of your day so you can relax with your friends, drink champagne and enjoy being the bride. Schedule a complimentary phone call and let's design a look you love.

TIMELESS, CLASSIC, & YOU BUT BETTER

We have a very different approach to wedding day makeup. We aren't your "cookie-cutter" artists where everyone looks the same. There is an entire process that celebrities use to look their best and it's for good for a reason. Why is your wedding day any different? This is your red-carpet moment. With Cristin Rose Artistry, we make sure you get the full red-carpet treatment. We partner and collaborate with you to design a look you love, completely customized to YOUR taste. Our style is more celebrity red carpet than a social media trend. While we can do any look you like, we specialize in "you but better" looks that are timeless and last a lifetime.

Weddings should be a special time you spend in the company of your closest friends and family as you prepare to walk down the aisle. Each bride is treated like royalty starting with a mini facial customized for her skin’s needs, makeup application and hairstyling will help melt any stress or tension away as you get pampered for your walk down the aisle. Deluxe touch up kits are provided to the bride complete with lip product of their choice for touch ups throughout the day.

Maids and moms are also given the royal treatment with mini facials and mini touch up kits to look photo worthy long after the reception is over.

From Child at Play to Passionate Artist

Cristin's love of makeup and hairstyling was realized at a very young age when she would "makeover" her younger brother and sister and parade them around the living room for her family to see and judge. (Poor Robby!) This passion for beauty and styling followed Cristin through elementary and middle school, where she would get in trouble for wearing gold eye shadow and red nail polish to her very conservative private school.

During Cristin's high school education she followed her love of all things "beautiful" and took several advanced art and technical classes, from which she completed enough hours to qualify for her Nail license in New Jersey.

When Cristin graduated from high school, she knew that she loved helping and teaching people, she received her bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Art Education from The College of New Jersey. While attending school there and studying Art History and trying her hand at conceptual art, painting and jewelry design, Cristin sought the creativity that the beauty industry offered. She continued to hone her craft performing "makeovers" on cousins and college friends throughout her college studies.

One of Cristin's favorite memories is when she was able to combine her love of beauty, design, and styling during her second year in photography.  Her final project was to create, design and produce and editorial type photo array.  She gathered anyone who was willing  and crafted styles that embodied her friends ideals.  She executed each of the looks for each friend, including their clothes as well as hair and makeup to represent fashions and trends seen in popular culture of the time. She received an A+ of course.

After graduation Cristin decided to pursue a formal education to hone her love of hair and makeup, so she enrolled in a Paul Mitchell school, where she graduated and received her New Jersey Cosmetology License. Since cosmetology school, Cristin has worked on many projects in the tri-state area, including runway shows, weddings, photo shoots, boudoir sessions, educational events and classes.

Cristin has maintained her passion for education, and works with other artists and individuals to help perfect their skills. Cristin also devotes time every year to educational opportunities to help her grow as an artist and be on trend and knowledgeable of new products.

Cristin has taken classes with M•A•C, Make Up For Ever, Nars, Face Atelier, Paul Mitchell, Donna Bella Hair, Cinderella hair, L'oreal, Framesi, Aveda, and other brands.

So you are looking for a makeup artist and hair stylist, here is what you should know.

What should I look for in hiring a makeup artist and hair stylist?

One of the first things you’ll probably look at in choosing a makeup artist are the pictures of their previous work. I urge you to make sure that when you do this, you look at the makeup and hair! It’s easy to get caught up in professional wedding photos with beautiful lighting, dresses, and backgrounds, make sure that whatever pictures you look at, you’re focusing on the makeup and hair.

If you’re interested in hiring a makeup artist, feel free to ask them what kinds of products they use and what their sanitation practices are for their kit. I do a LOT of prep before every client which includes stocking my kit with the best, top-of-the-line products, sanitizing all of my products, brushes and tools, and deep cleaning all of my brushes. During makeup applications, I make sure that I follow hygienic practices to ensure a clean and sanitary makeup application for every client! This is so important, and training and education plays a large role in this.

When it comes to pricing, I’m a firm believer in the old saying “you get what you pay for.” The makeup artist or hairstylist you decide on hiring for your wedding will depend on whose work you like, who you feel comfortable with, and who will work within your budget. However, just like all of the other details for your wedding day, keep in mind that lower prices may be an indication of lower quality and/or less experience. Feel free to ask makeup artists and hairstylist you love questions about their work.

What should I expect for my bridal preview/trial?

I prefer to schedule a bridal preview (sometimes referred to as a trial) for all of my clients. This allows us to have a stress-free, scheduled time to really get to know each other and collaborate on finding a makeup or hair look that makes you feel incredible!

Allow approximately 3 hours for your preview appointment for hair and makeup. This gives us plenty of time to talk about your specific skin needs, your vision for your makeup and hair, and, of course, the makeup application and hairstyle!

The very first thing I’ll do at your bridal preview is talk to you, asking you questions and listening to your needs and wants so we’re on the same page before I even pick up a brush! I love it when my clients bring me pictures of what they like (or don’t like) because sometimes it’s hard to communicate what you like, but it’s always easy to SHOW someone what you like! Once we decide on what kind of look you’re going for, we’ll begin the makeup application. I’ll do a LOT of explaining about what I’m doing and what kind of products I’m using on you (and why), but feel free to ask me any questions you might have! Once we’ve completed the makeup application, I’ll sit down and write down for myself all of the details for your big day and fill out details I will need with all of the products I used so I can replicate the exact same look for your big day!

Do I need to bring anything to my bridal preview?

The only thing you need to bring for makeup is your gorgeous face - I’ll have everything we need in my kit (including lashes)! However, feel free to bring any pictures you’ve found of looks that you like (or don’t like)!

Check out my Pinterest page to get you started on looking for some ideas! Please avoid removing facial hair (waxing and plucking and any facial augmentation prior to the trial and on your wedding day, more details on this later.)

For hair, please bring any hair accessories you might want to include in your hair including your veil, if you have it!

How do I contact you to book an appointment?

The best way to schedule an appointment with me is via email at cristin@cristinroseartistry.com. Please make sure to include complete details including your name, date and time of your event, location, and any specific needs or concerns.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, Zelle, and credit cards.

How far in advance should I book my wedding date?

I’m sure you’ve found that wedding dates can book up pretty quickly! Some people book their wedding dates with me a year in advance, but I would suggest at least six months in advance to ensure availability.

How far in advance should I book my bridal preview?

This is entirely up to you, but I would suggest scheduling your bridal preview at least 4-8 weeks prior to your wedding day. Previews are typically held on weekend afternoons, but feel free to contact me if you need to schedule your appointment during a weekday evening and I will do my best to accommodate you!

What if someone in my bridal party just wants her eyes done or lashes applied?

I don’t offer “eyes only”, and here’s why: I promise you that no matter how stunning my eye look might be, it won’t look nearly as good if the rest of the makeup isn’t the same! I pride myself on customized skincare and makeup application for every client that sits in my chair. So when I’m doing someone’s makeup, I make sure that they step out of my chair looking and feeling phenomenal, and that means giving them a complete look! I will apply lashes only, but they must be purchased from me to ensure that all hygienic practices are maintained.

What should I do BEFORE my wedding day to prepare for makeup?

This is going to sound redundant, because you have heard it before, but drink as MUCH water as you can! I promise you, you will see a HUGE difference in your skin complexion and radiance!

If you plan on making any waxing appointments for your face (eyebrows, upper-lip, chin, etc.) make an appointment to test it out at least 3 months before your wedding. This way you’ll find out if you have any skin sensitivities to waxing. Then, make your waxing appointment about a week prior to the big day to allow time for any redness or inflammation to go away for the big day! Makeup will not sit correctly on freshly waxed (or augmented: botox, filler, cosmetic tatoos, microdermabrasion, microblading) skin!

I highly encourage you to stay away from tanning beds, but if you’re considering a spray tan for your wedding day, I suggest you make a test appointment at least 2 months prior to your wedding date to make sure you like it! Take pictures afterwards and look at them to see if you like the way it looks on you! If you’re going to get a spray tan, I’d also encourage you to make an appointment the same week of your trial so we can get an accurate idea of what colors we’ll use. (I can always match whatever colors you need the day of the wedding, but it might mean we need to change some of the eye or lip colors that we originally decided on at the trial, and I just like to let my brides know that ahead of time!)

Do you sell the products you use/can I buy the lip color you use on me?

One of the advantages of hiring a freelance makeup-artist is that you don’t have to worry about them trying to sell you a particular line of products! I love being a makeup artist, but I don’t like being a salesperson! I don’t “sell” any of the products I use. My makeup application will last all day, but I do provide a touch up kit with little essentials you might need (mints, face powder, deodorant wipes, touch up lipstick, etc.) if you book your wedding or event with me as the bride you will also get a full size touch-up lipstick of your choosing to keep in your clutch for the wedding day (I’m good, but not all lipsticks will make it through all of the kisses, eating, and toasting!)

**If you are booking a full day of half day or photo shoot with me, I remain on set through the time booked for touch ups as needed. Email me for more details on those services. cristin@cristinroseartistry.com

Do you work on all ethnicities skin-tones?

ABSOLUTELY! I’m skilled in working on ALL skin tones, and I always have my kit stocked with products and colors that work for everyone!
